Good stuff, as always. This one hit home a little more than most posts in more way than one.

You hit the nail on the head.

Life is short.

I take generally a week after tax season to just be. Only this year I was hit with an upper respiratory infection. Not the way I wanted to spend the week. The property needed mowing, desperately. The jungle (yes jungle, I live within the fringes of the jungle) had grown to 3 feet in some sections. So, I was literally forced to rest. It didn't change the mind from contemplating the work tasks, but it did change my ability to do them.

Yesterday, I said to a friend, I'll tackle one hard project a day and call it good. I mowed part of the jungle before the batteries in my mower ran out. A sign it was time to shift gears and do that one hard task on my desk. I actually accomplished two. Maybe because I'd spent some time outside in the sun, as you say, touching the grass.

I am a quilter. Before tax season started, I had designed and finished a pretty cool quilt for a friends daughter. DONE~! My niece announced the birth of her third and I've decided I'm not doing a quilt this time. I need smaller projects I can actually finish before the work, I've said yes to demands more attention. I have chosen smaller sewing projects. They're a must learn something new type of project. Its intimidating but should be rewarding and fun.

Today, one hard task on my desk and some time out in the sun and then onto trying my hand at the new sewing project. Learn something new.

So relatable. I'm sorry for your recent loss of two dogs. My sister just asked me two weeks ago why we don't just close our office for a week after our deadline when I was telling her all about the lack of motivation after 4/15. It has been thinking seriously about this and I will bring it up at our next partnership meeting on Tuesday. I took yesterday off for a mental health day and my three other partners are currently out sick or home with a sick kid.
