Lovely! My question is in Practice Management. I am thinking of making the switch from Tax Dome to Canopy. Have you used Canopy? If yes, thoughts? Also, what is a best practice when moving from one practice management system to another?
That is a great question. I have not used Canopy other than doing a demo well over a year ago. I do know that on the sales side of things, they can be a bit persistent. When switching from any software to another, the big thing to look at is if your current data going to be able to be moved (export/import). While no software is perfect and I am always looking at new releases and what is on the market, I have found TaxDome to be one of the better products. Out of curiosity, what is prompting you to switch from TaxDome?
Tax Dome charged me for deactivated accounts & claimed a "no refund" policy when I asked for a correction. Turns out I needed to cancel "licenses". I have been using TD since 2021 & adding & removing seasonal users as per requirement. I did not see an update or any documentation that stated that I was signing up for seats instead of users & they could keep charging me unless I removed them from my licenses. Just thought a software with a subscription model should be more transparent. They eventually gave me a credit for the money..but I cannot use it until Feb of next year.
I do not use their virtual drive, and I do not keep files in their storage. When we are working with a client, the files get moved over to another drive.
I can certainly understand the frustration with that. I know a lot of software licenses are like that, and they aren't always clear that you have to cancel the license instead of just deleting the account.
We have done a lot of work in TD to set up Pipelines & other templates. That being said- even though it will mean a lot of work doing it all again, I think it is important for me to explore other options out there. Right? Maybe make an informed decision, you know?

If you use TD, how do you work with their virtual drive on a Mac OS?

Always good to explore, but I'd be mindful of the opportunity cost of switching.
